You'll feel confident teaching children to:

• Sound out words by pulling apart the sounds (segmenting): b-l-e-n-d | b-r-a-n-ch
• Hear, sound out and spell, focusing on the tricky second sound and second last sound
• Read and match each sound to the correct letter/digraph:
• Read blend, hear b-l-e-n-d, spell blend
• Read branch, hear b-r-a-n-ch, spell branch
• Put the sounds back together (blending) to read the word: b-l-e-n-d makes the word land, b-r-a-n-ch makes the word branch
